[for twilight_sword]
[ It's a testament to G'raha's skill as a diplomat and experience dealing with the fae that he was able to convince Thirteen to allow Dainsleif to come home with him to the First rather than his own world. He'd been so happy to have his beloved with him in all the chaos that followed their triumphant return from the Tempest. He'd been so happy to learn that severing Dainsleif from his connection to his original world had consequently put an end to his curse. He'd been so... So...
Selfish.
Dainsleif has been so withdrawn since then. He so rarely ventures out of the Crystal Tower into the city itself, and he never seems to stay out there for long. The people of the Crystarium have expressed their concerns to their Exarch, and of course G'raha is himself even more concerned than they are. It had been too great an ask, having Dainsleif forsake everything he'd ever known just for him. He's forced his lover into a terrible, irreversible mistake. He's learned nothing from the pain he's caused the Scions, nothing from Dainsleif's own resentment of Thirteen. He's... such a fool.
The Crystal Tower alerts him when Dainsleif enters its doors. Again, such a brief sojourn outside.... Lyna notices that he's distracted and keeps the rest of her report brief before she leaves him to his thoughts. It's not long before he reaches his conclusion. This cannot be allowed to continue like this. He has to at least make some attempt at making amends, even if it would be impossible to truly set things right.
It's easy enough for him to find Dainsleif. The Tower may be more akin to a mountain than a building in size, but that hardly makes a difference when G'raha is part of the structure himself, finally whole in a way he never was in Folkmore. As long as Dainsleif is within the Tower, he may as well be within G'raha's direct line of sight. Approaching him, however, is a different matter. Truthfully, they haven't seen each other very much after those first couple of days following their return. Even setting aside G'raha's duties as the Crystal Exarch, he owes the Scions safe passage home, and with his original plan for providing thus now squarely off the table, he has been spending most of his free time researching possible alternatives, often staying late into the night at the Cabinet of Curiosity or some obscure corner of the Tower.
If only he could offer Dainsleif safe passage home as well. He feels as though he has... so little to offer now. But if nothing else, he can still manage a sympathetic ear. However bad he feels about this, Dainsleif surely must be feeling worse, isolated and so far from home as he is. With that thought in mind, he finally tracks his lover down, fighting to limit any signs of distress he might show. Dainsleif will easily be able to tell that his smile is forced, but at least he isn't actively fiddling or avoiding eye contact. ]
Dainsleif! How are you, my love? Is there aught on your mind?
